Special Events Permits and Park Rental Information

In February 2026, the Naches Town Council amended Chapter 5.04 of the Naches Municipal Code to include new Chapter 5.16: Special Events. Ordinance 817 is designed to be more efficient, consistent, and comprehensive and regulated permitted events on public rights-of-way, public property, or events on private property that require additional permitting such as fireworks or those requesting town assistance. The special event permit fees are listed within the chapter and are dependent on type, location, size, and residency status.

When do I need a Special Event Permit?

Not all events in Naches require a permit. A special event permit is required if an event takes place on public property or a public right-of-way, or if it is held on private property but significantly affects traffic flow, congestion, or nearby public streets and rights-of-way. It is also required if the event places substantial demand on emergency services or if occurs within the Town’s historic downtown and either involves ticket sales or is open to the public with an expected attendance of more than 100 people. NMC 5.16.030 further describes when a permit may not be needed.

What is expressive speech activity?

Events that are expressive in nature, such as marches, rallies, or gathering, are not subject to the fee. However, the event planner must complete the Special Events Permit Application no later than 7 days prior to the scheduled activity.

What is the Special Event Application Process?

  • Depending on the type of special events, a completed special event permit application is requested at least 60 days in advance of the event
  • Prepare and submit with your application and include event layout map(s) and a detailed schematic/layout of any alcohol areas, if applicable (note: an additional special event permit with through the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board is also required for any events service alcohol).
  • Secure insurance as indicated in the application, and attach proof of insurance with your application
  • Pay application fee along with the application
